Reducing stigma and discrimination against women living with HIV
We all understand that HIV today is not just a medical issue. It is, above all, a question of societal attitudes, awareness, and respect for the rights and dignity of every individual.
Fighting stigma is not only a matter of awareness, but also a matter of values, respect for human rights, and social justice.
Stigma remains a serious barrier to accessing services and achieving a quality of life.
Working in this direction helps change societal attitudes,
strengthen people's rights, and create an environment where support becomes the norm.
Why is this important
- A training module was developed for university faculty on reducing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV among university students;
- Proposals were developed to introduce more friendly and supportive approaches in the work of the Committee on Women and Children's Affairs aimed at supporting women and young people living with HIV, as well as to improve the effectiveness of interactions between various services and organizations;
- Individual psychological consultations were provided to 136 women and young people living with HIV, as well as 26 legal consultations on issues of discrimination, access to services, and protection of rights.
The project was an important step toward reducing stigma and discrimination against women and girls living with HIV.
It not only provided tangible support but also created the foundation for long-term change through open dialogue, education, and partnership development.
