HIV and Tuberculosis Prevention: Experience That Works
The project aims to reduce the risk of HIV infection among vulnerable populations.
Its main focus is outreach work, prevention, and ensuring access to life-saving services.
Today, the project is implemented in 10 regions and the city of Tashkent.
Sustainable results are possible where there is a systematic approach, strong partnerships, and trust.
These principles form the foundation of our work.
We continue to strengthen the prevention and support system, introduce best practices, and enhance cross-sector collaboration.
Our goal is to ensure that services are accessible to everyone who needs them and to contribute to achieving national and global targets in the fight against HIV and tuberculosis.
Partnership is the key to effectiveness.
We work in close cooperation with government institutions, international organizations, and civil society partners. This ensures continuity of services and expanded coverage.
Our team consists of trained outreach workers and counselors, including representatives of key populations.
This makes support more accessible, trusted, and responsive to real needs.
Every year, more than 20,000 people receive consultations, preventive assistance, and support.
These are individuals from vulnerable groups for whom access to quality services is especially critical.
During the project implementation:
• An effective referral system for medical and social services was established;
• More than 600 people newly diagnosed with HIV received counseling, case management, and were enrolled in treatment, including antiretroviral therapy (ART);
• Trust in services and client engagement significantly increased.
We use a comprehensive approach that includes:
• Outreach work and regular mini-sessions on HIV prevention;
• Distribution of protective supplies and informational materials;
• Tuberculosis screening;
• A referral and client support system;
• Monitoring awareness levels and client satisfaction;
• Close coordination with governmental and non-governmental partners.
A new phase began in 2021.
The geography of our work expanded significantly — we entered new regions and strengthened our activities in Tashkent. This allowed us to reach more people and make services more accessible.
Development and Expansion
Since 2005, our organization has been implementing projects funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GF) in Uzbekistan.
Over the years, we have accumulated significant experience in prevention, early detection, and support for people affected by HIV and tuberculosis.
